Wilfried Hanrath is a sound designer and composer from Wuppertal, Germany.
"I am a self-taught musician on bass, guitar, drums, synthesizer in his early sixties, and when I started listening to music it was the area of psychedelic rock and pop, the area of flower power, and I fell blessed to have witnessed the beginnings of what was later called Krautrock, and electronic music and fusion. All this has been a massive influence on me.
It took me quite a while to gain inner freedom to be able to play fully improvised...in my jazz-rock avantgarde band, in an improviser's orchestra and in many projects. In my solo-works I feel free to play ambient music one day and melodic popish music the next. I like to collaborate with other musicians from around the world, live if possible, and on a virtual level if not. Only nowadays do I start to release some of my music. For the most part I upload to Soundcloud, I also started a bandcamp account. I like to contribute to themed compilations, and recently I have released two physical albums."
